Additional Support is available to ALL full & part time students. All prospective students are given the opportunity to discuss their additional support needs with a member of the Additional Support team or the Disability Officer, prior to their course starting. Students can access Additional Support at any time during their course. Our team of professional staff can support students with:
- Specific Learning Difficulties i.e. Dyslexia, Dyspraxia & Dyscalculia
- Attention Deficit Hyper-Activity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autistic Spectrum Disorders (Please see also information sheet on the ‘Aspie Group’)
- Medical conditions
- Mental Ill Health issues (Please also see information sheet on the Transition Project).
- Physical & Sensory impairments
- Speech & Language difficulties
We can provide support with
- 1:1 teaching from qualified teachers and specialist teachers
- 1:1 in-class support from Learning Support Assistants e.g. to support note taking
- Assistive technology e.g. Dragon Naturally Speaking, Claroread & Mind Genuis (following assessment)
- BSL interpreters
- Specialist Equipment i.e. Neo by AlphaSmart & laptops (Following assessment)
- Access to Examination Arrangements
We also have access to The Independent Psychological Service and actively encourage multi-agency meetings when appropriate.
